Meet Ada Goth. She lives in Ghastly-Gorm Hall with her father, Lord Goth, lots of servants and at least half a dozen ghosts, but she hasn't got any friends to explore her enormous, creepy house with.

Then, one night, everything changes when Ada meets a ghostly mouse called Ishmael. Together they set out to solve the mystery of the strange happenings at Ghastly-Gorm Hall, and get a lot more than they bargained for...

MY REVIEW:

This book took me a while to get into but once I got into it ,it was great. Ada's father believe children should be heard but not seen and this is what the book is based around.Ada is a strong and independent role model and has a bunch of weird and wonderful friends. The book itself is beautiful the pages are full of lovely illustrations by Chris Rilddell who is also the author ,making this book very unique. Her house is full of secrets that even she has not discovered. The plot of this story is that Ada meets the ghost, a mouse, which I liked instead of a human.

There are very odd characters like Charles cabbage a crazy inventor, Mrs beat'em a mad cook and the monster of Mecklenburg known by his friends as the polar explorer. Ada's world is very detailed and imaginative with places like the drawing room gardens with real tables and chairs and the secret garden, and behind that an even-more- secret garden (There is a map in the book so you can see for your self the wonderful places.)

Something else really nice about this book is the tiny book in the back, on one side its a comic and on the other its a story.
